People are always asking me Muki Venture on my advice for hiking Table Mountain. People ask us questions about the most difficult route, the best weather conditions and where to go next. I will tell you in this article, The Some Secrets You Will Never Know About Table Mountain Hike Routes.
The original route up Table Mountain is not a scramble anymore! The first ascent was done by Cecil John Rhodes who climbed up via the Platteklip Gorge (now known as Rhodes Path).
He was accompanied by his guide Joseph William Darragh who led him up from Camps Bay towards Kloof Corner Ridge (now known as Darragh Path). They then reached the top via Lion's Head before descending via Maclear's Beacon to Cape Town at Simonstown Bay! But now, there are many different routes up Table Mountain depending on your fitness level and experience level.
The hike has many different routes that you can take and all of them are amazing. You will have to choose which route suits your needs best, but in this article we will give you some tips on how to choose the right route for you and what to expect when hiking Table Mountain.
The first secret is that there are seven different routes that you can take up Table Mountain. These routes go from easy walks to very difficult hikes with steep climbs and rocky terrain.
1: Platteklip Gorge
2: India Venster
3: Skeleton Gorge
4: The Pipe Track
5: Kasteerport
For those who want a more challenging experience then there are several other trails that will test your stamina including India Venster which requires some rock climbing skills over boulders for about 45 minutes before reaching the summit which offers amazing views over Cape Town.
The weather on the Table Mountain hike is unpredictable, so you have to be prepared for anything. The temperature in Cape Town stays between 7°C and 25°C throughout the year, but it can feel much colder or warmer than that. It's important to bring a jacket with you, even if it's not winter yet. Most people choose to do their hike in summer as it is a lot warmer, but winter can be beautiful too!
There are no water sources along the trail unless they bring their own bottles or camelbacks with them.
The above is the most used route in Table Mountain. It's easy to view and the main trail most hikers use it to get up the front face of the mountain. I hope that these secrets will help you on your next trip to Table Mountain. Remember to be safe, be prepared and enjoy yourself while hiking.
